Since the launch of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master the talented storyteller has kept fans guessing with extensive world-building, a colorful mix of characters, and a gripping narrative featuring divine entities, evil spirits, and sinister influences growing in power within the urban setting.
Heads-up: Key plot points for Episode 3 of the new season follow below.
The Combat-Oriented Party Unveiled
Episode 3 finished on a major cliffhanger and presented the initial group of characters who will split off from the central cast to embark on their independent quest, apart from the remaining groups.
The combat-focused team features Teor (portrayed by Travis), Thimble (Laura), the strong-willed figure (Whitney Moore), Wicander (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie).
Dividing the Cast
Considering 13 cast members, it was obvious from the start that keeping everyone at the same party would be unworkable.
That’s why, the first four episodes of the new season serve as an Overture, connecting the characters’ stories before splitting into three smaller tables: Warriors, Strategists, and Explorers.
What Defines the Soldiers Table
Per the DM, the Soldiers table is for players who are drawn to a typically action-packed combat and conflict-driven gameplay experience where diplomatic options are scarce.
Upon first impression, figures such as the squeamish cleric Wicander Halovar might look unsuited, but the actions of the latest installment make it clear why these five characters are best suited for the Soldiers table.
Reasons to Leave
First, the team knows exactly where to proceed after a brutal opening clash with the antagonists.
Casimir of Thjazi—whose demise kicked off the narrative’s action—exploited the enemy for his selfish purposes, invading the secret base, striking Thimble, and stealing all the powerful objects to dispose of.
The traitor then settled his debts and fled to a secure base in the northern region, north of the city, with Cyd Pridesire close behind.
Character Drivers
Additionally, each character has a specific drive to depart Dol-Makjar:
- The rogue, as the companion and best friend, seeks revenge.
- Kattigan has experience in the region and advises that it is a dangerous place.
- The strong character and The cleric, having defied his relatives’ demands to eliminate the target and instead saved him, have no other options.
- Yet, their reputation as key figures in House Halovar could help the team enter areas they usually can’t.
- Furthermore, The fighter swore a unbreakable promise to Wicander for his deliverance and will now follow him anywhere.
Fugitives
Finally, all of them are hunted by the rulers that control the city for a multiple motives, making staying in the city too risky:
- The agile adventurer and The hero are known criminals.
- The warrior and The healer turned against House Halovar and the horde of evil beings they are aligned with.
- The fighter is targeted for elimination by the family.
This leaves them no alternative but to head to the northern region in search of the traitor.
Upcoming Developments
According to the recent installment’s Cooldown, we learn that the warrior group will be absent in the upcoming installment, leaving the rest of the participants to assemble the Seekers and Strategists groups.
Fans can look forward to finding out which players will be in which group in Campaign 4’s concluding setup installment, available to watch on the upcoming Thursday.
